About
My story and the passion that guides me in visual exploration of the world

I am a photographer, born at the foot of a volcano and raised between the call of the sea and that of the land. From a young age, I nurtured a strong curiosity for the underwater world, a drive that in 1993 led me to join the staff of the Catania Diving School. Here I participated in educational activities and discovered my true passion: underwater photography.
Subsequently, thanks to my entry into the Catania Underwater Research Operators Group, I was able to perfect the technique of nature photography, focusing particularly on marine ecosystems and their delicate complexity. Although I did not follow formal academic paths, I learned the craft directly in the field: working alongside professionals, refining my vision through stages dedicated to image reading and its communicative aspects.
My photographic journey has always been a path of discovery, built day by day through study, practice and continuous questioning. Over time I have nurtured a deep photographic culture, also fed by a rich personal library that I consider a place of study and inspiration.
For me, photography is first and foremost relationship. It is an encounter with places and people, but also a dialogue with nature and the life forms that inhabit it. Among the most formative experiences I remember the collaboration with the Fiumara d'Arte association for the project dedicated to Librino, alongside the Iranian photojournalist Reza Degati of National Geographic.
I collaborate with the University of Catania on projects to enhance parks and protected natural areas. I am accredited as a photographer at the Isole Ciclopi Marine Protected Area and the Isola Bella di Taormina Oriented Natural Reserve, where there is a permanent exhibition dedicated to the plant species of the island.
Since 1994 I have participated in FIPSAS competitions in the disciplines of Underwater Photography, Fotosub Safari and Underwater Video. I have also gained extensive experience in amateur photography associations, particularly in A.N.A.F., participating in numerous national competitions and exhibitions.

Nature photography as a tool for social responsibility.
Underwater photography is one of the most complex photographic disciplines: technically it requires mastery of light in difficult conditions, ability to manage diving equipment, control of trim and dive times, speed in capturing moving subjects.
Nature photography carries with it a responsibility that goes beyond aesthetics: every shot is an act of testimony. Photographing environments, animals and landscapes means not only capturing the beauty of the natural world, but also telling its fragility.
In this sense, nature photography is not just an art, but an ethical commitment: remembering that what we admire through the lens also depends on the choices we make outside the frame.
